JV Girls Basketball vs. Mt. Sinai, January 10 – by Bruce Avery Siska

East Hampton Girls Junior Varsity Basketball team were defeated by Mount Sinai with a final score 18-33.

Scorers from the Bonackers were Emma Stein (5), Nora Conlon (5), Ariana Islami (4), and Ashley Peters (4). The Bonackers started off strong, keeping the game close in the 1st quarter with a 5-4 lead. In the 2nd quarter, Bonac girls went down 9-18, making 40% of their shots. Unfortunately, the Bonackers were unable to make a come back in the 3rd or 4th quarter, ending the game in a loss. Their overall shot percentage for the game was only 25%.

While they were out scored, the defense held Mt Sinai to only 33 points with only 4 team fouls. While the offense had many opportunities to score from the field, luck wasn’t on their side and the baskets didn’t fall. The girls will need to work together to move the ball and create scoring opportunities in future games. But despite the loss, the girls JV basketball team played a tough game and we all hope that they are on the winning side of their next game.

Yours in sports, Bruce Avery Siska.
